ACS celebrates the outstanding tech talent in the Australian industry and recognise the innovators, disruptors, leaders, emerging professionals, and tech superstars who are making a difference. The Emerging Professional of the Year is awarded to an individual who has established their career in ICT. Who in their youth and limited experience, have demonstrated excellence and a drive towards professional development. They are a role model and an example to their peers and conduct themselves with the highest standards of ethics and professionalism.

Siddhant (Sid) Shrestha, co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Varicon was awarded the “Emerging ICT Professional of the Year” at 2022 ACS Digital Disruptors Award which was held on on the 23rd of February 2022 at the Hilton Hotel, Sydney.

My name is Siddhant Shrestha. People also call me Sid here in Australia. I’m the co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Varicon. It’s a construction tech startup based out of Australia.

Every year construction companies lose billions of dollars because of ineffective cost management systems. That’s where Varicon comes into play. We help construction companies reduce their financial risk by providing them access to real time visibility over their project cost information from field straight to the office.

Being a migrant from Nepal, I feel lucky for the opportunity that I have at the moment. I hope my nomination would inspire and encourage other migraines, international students, as well as all the ICT professionals to dream big, pursue their dreams and actually take risks. I want to use the power of tech to make positive impact in the wider community. In addition, I also want to help and support startup founders and entrepreneurs that’s trying to use tech to solve real world problems. That’s something that drives me and hopefully I can get there in the future.
